The productions that Redirecting Dance designs range from traditional live performances to films and conferences. Each project is centered around the unique power that dance has to communicate and connect us all -- regardless of age, background, language, or location.
Dance is an extension of our sophisticated and diverse nonverbal lexicon. For centuries, dance has connected communities in celebration, told timeless stories, and given us space to grieve. Due to the universal language of our bodies, dance has a unique potential to unite dissimilar people and inspire empathy. In a time when our differences seem more pronounced than ever, dance can be used as a tool to promote progress and strengthen our communal kinship.

Our Work
Each year, Redirecting Dance’s board of directors identifies a core social issue that has had a pronounced impact on individuals in the United States. Redirecting Dance will only adopt causes that we believe we have the appropriate resources to support.
Every Redirecting Dance production begins with extensive research to fully appreciate the issue in focus and the impacted communities. We take a unique approach to each social issue to ensure that our production’s design and partnerships support the most genuine representation of the subject. No two Redirecting Dance projects will look the same because we tailor our design and delivery for the greatest audience and community engagement around a cause.
NON-PROFIT STATUS
Redirecting Dance is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. This means all donations to Redirecting Dance starting January 1, 2022 are tax-deductible.
